William “Glenn” Durie, P.E is the Vice President of Technical Services and the third founding partner of Power Grid Engineering. He plays a vital role in the everyday operations of Power Grid Engineering by overseeing the Safety and HP, IT, Quality Assurance, Training, and Project Management functions. With over 17 years of experience in the utilities industry, Glenn is an advocate for driving consistency through process development and a focus on quality, safety and human performance.
Glenn’s philosophy for success is to create a comfortable space to share ideas for the organization and have a clearly defined goal on “what we are trying to solve”. He leverages the synergies of his departments and diverse experience to help facilitate solutions for operational challenges. His vision for his team is to partner with end users to meet the operational needs of the business and focus on what is valuable to our clients.
Glenn draws on knowledge gained holding several technical positions at consulting firms. His early years include bringing best practices to Progress Energy’s (now Duke Energy) Substation Engineering group before moving into their Protection & Control group to create methods for effective implementation of designs through standard design and consistent practices. Over the past decade, Glenn has leveraged this knowledge to strategically develop PGE’s Quality Assurance and Safety & HP programs. He also established PGE’s Project Management department to ensure all projects are delivered on time, on scope and on budget.
Durie holds professional engineering licenses in various states and is an active member of IEEE Power Society since 2008. He graduated from the University of Florida where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2001.
